It’s been so long
Since I’ve known what to say
A little part of me
Seems to drift away every day.

Because I gave away my inner constitution
I sold it for the highest grade
So that I could rise above and get away.

Put the pieces back together
And if they fall then you know it was not meant to be.
Look for wisdom in the past
But if you stall, then you know it was never there at all.

Eleven years ago
Every note I wrote, I wrote down.
Six years ago,
Every note I wrote was shot down -
Shot down in service of the canon,
Because everyone was nervous I was planning
To give away the secrets of the program:
An ivory tower full of sad men
Who ran away from everything that made us human.

Put the pieces back together
And if they fall then you know it was not meant to be.
Look for wisdom in the past
But if you stall, then you know it was never there at all.
